Pedagogy

 

Teach each child, not the whole class, is the motto of pedagogy at LIS. Pedagogy aims at developing academic strength of every student.

The teaching is geared to achieve the maximum result with the help of the latest methodology in teaching. Teaching is very interactive and student cantered. We follow the best practices in the world to make the learners understand the world of Science, Math, and Languages etc. We use the most modern digital technology, various interesting activities, subject enriching projects, field trips, drama, debate, group discussions, group and pair work etc to drive the academic areas.

Classroom Activities

 

Using the child-cantered approach, we strive to bring about efficient learning experiences, transforming the traditional method of teaching into a platform where students participate rigorously. Learning by doing is the main objective in imparting education which results in successful learning as they experience, memorize and understand. Educators play an active role in the process as normal lessons are planned and executed with focus on interactive techniques developed and assisting students in drawing conclusions through their own investigation and analysis. Students learn not the content of the lesson but also develop many other skills.

Homework

 

  • Reinforcement, Re-nrichment and Responsibility are the “3R’s” of homework.
  • Homework consists of both short and long-term assignments. Examples of long-term assignments are monthly presentations and project work.
  • Because homework is not intended to stress, but rather to strengthen, parents are encouraged to stop the homework activity if it becomes too lengthy or too stressful. Notify the teacher on the following day.
  • Homework will be assigned from Monday to Friday as per the H.W. Time Table given by the Class Teacher:
    • Classes 1 – 2 – average of 30 minutes each working day both reading and writing
    • Classes 3 – 5 – average of 45 minutes each working day both reading and writing
    • Classes 6 – 8 – average of 120 minutes each working day both reading and writing
    • Classes 9 – 12 – average of 150 minutes each working day both reading and writing
  • Parents should provide students with an appropriate place to do their homework and help them to budget time for both short and long-term assignments.
  • Parents in Classes 3 – 4 should: Proofread and point out errors, but don’t correct. Facilitate. Help to develop organizational skills. Read to/with your child.
  • Parents in Classes 5 – 7 should: Help children to make the transition to proofreading their own work. Facilitate. Help to continue to develop organizational skills. Read to/with your child.
  • Students of Classes 8 – 12 onwards must be able to work independently.
